A moderately sodium-restricted diet (80-100 mmol/day) may help patients with renal disease avoid excess sodium and fluid retention. However, recommendations for sodium and fluid must be individualized5.
A quick 'rule of thumb' is that if salt (sodium) is listed within the first five ingredients of a food label, it is too high in salt!
